By far the most common way to get to Roda, is to book a package holiday and fly in from your nearest airport. Having said that, Roda has a very high percentage of independent travellers who return each & every year on a ‘flight only’ basis. The alternative is to book a cheap package, anywhere on the Island, and then arrange for one of Roda’s taxis to collect you from the airport. Always be sure to inform the appropriate holiday representative of your intentions before leaving the airport.
Many visitors to Roda, having found the location in the village that suits them best, book directly with the accommodation owner and make their own travel arrangements. The taxi transfer time to Roda is 45 minutes. There are several airlines offering ‘flight-only’ deals sold at favourable prices just to fill aeroplanes. In a climate of airline acquisitions and takeovers, it is always best to pay by credit card to get the best level of cover.
Corfu Kapodistrias Airport (CFU) is a modern airport, on the edge of Corfu Town. It is serviced directly throughout the summer holiday season by more than 20 charter and scheduled airlines flying from over 60 major airports across Europe. There are no buses serving the airport but taxis are available and hotels may offer a shuttle service. Until recently, scheduled out-of-season flights were only available via Athens or on special occasions such as Easter or Christmas. In 2008, easJet, flying from London Gatwick, extended that season a little and it is hoped that they may continue to do so.
There are also flights into Italy throughout the year which link up with ferry services to Corfu from Bari, Brindisi and Venice and, if you book early enough, they can be very affordable. Ryanair, the budget airline, fly daily from Stansted and Liverpool, in the UK, to key Italian ports.
